Learn to prevail with God’s Word – Phil 4:13

As born again believers, we can learn how to prevail with God’s Word as a resource for success in our lives. In the Bible, to prevail, means to prove superior in power and influence. It means to dominate in prevailing power. A great section of scripture that teaches us about prevailing is found in the book of Philippians.

Philippians 4:11 – 13

Not that I speak in respect of want:

for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am,

therewith to be content.

I know both how to be abased, and

I know how to abound:

every where and in all things

I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry,

both to abound and to suffer need.

I can do all things through Christ,

which strengtheneth me.

I can do means I can prevail! How can we learn to prevail in life no matter what circumstances we are facing?  A foundational key is to realize that we need God’s help, His power and strengthen.  This is what allows us to prevail, to prove superior! Another way of looking at “I can do” is by this confession,  “I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strengthen into me” {Amplified Bible}. This is a prevailing attitude that we can develop in our lives. This is an attitude which is the completely opposite of the “victim mentality” that is promoted in our society today. God’s Word can teach anyone how to develop this prevailing attitude in life! It starts with a desire to grow, a desire to learn. Look at this verse.

 I Peter 2:2 -

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word,

that ye may grow thereby:

Growth begins by the process of feeding our minds with the Word of God. When we feed our minds with the word of God, we develop a godly perspective, {Trust in the Lord,  http://wp.me/p2c7um-8t,}  we become partakers of the divine nature.

I Peter 1:4 -

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises;

that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,

having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

As we feed on the precious promises of God’s Word we gain strength to approach our challenges with God as our partner. We develop an “I can do” attitude. We learn to prove God’s Word as God’s will for our lives. We prove God’s Word by feeding our minds with the truth.

Romans 12:2 –

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed

by the renewing of your mind,

that ye may prove

what is that good, and acceptable,

and perfect, will of God.

Take time today to pick out a verse of scripture, one of God’s promises and feed your mind with this truth. Watch your heart grow with God’s Word and gain spiritual strength. You are developing your “I can do” attitude.  With God as your partner, you will prevail!

Acts 19:20 -

So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

Prevailing with you,
